About me

My name is Zoran Furman. I was born in 1982 in Slovenia. It is a small country in the  southern part of Europe (Slovenia borders with Italy on west, Austria on north, Hungary on east and Croatia on south.
After primary school, I started studying and training to be a cook. During that time I realized that there were a lot of countries I wanted to explore.
I started with orienteering when I was 16. I was on the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Spain and the University Championships in Bulgaria in 2002. Through these competitions I had the opportunity to visit many other countries. With “my finger in the air” hitchhiking, I first went to Czech Republic, Sweden and Scotland.
My first trip out of Europe was in summer 2004, when I spent the whole summer in the US at a children’s camp. When I come back, I knew what I wanted… It was to travel the world… In the last years I have traveled to Asia, Africa, North, Central and South America.
In addition to traveling and writing for various magazines in Slovenia I share my traveler experiences in travel lectures or. slide shows.
